There is no quiet aftermarket exhaust for our bikes. The OEM is too quiet and the next step up, the FMF Q4, is too loud. It sounds nice though and I like a little noise on the road and while trying to pass other bikers on the trail.

Well, like I said, quiet is good, I do like a "tough" sound, but again I would need the header pipe and the exhaust and that alone will run me $400 to $500 and I don't think (from reading this forum) that would get me 5 h.p.
(let me know if I am wrong)

TNC yea I was planning on getting the dynojet kit with whatever mod I do.

so far....still leaning on the big bore kit

mines a 331 with a modded stock exhaust. I want a pipe and header eventually but I would recommend the big bore kit first. seems to be the best bang for the buck.

If you do the big bore upgrade, make sure you get a repair manual so you can see how things go together. Also the torque values are a must. We had/have a member here that did a big bore about 2 years ago and it did not turn out so well for this individual. He wound up doing it twice! Use the search function because I think I asked just about every question possible. It would have been very hard to do the big bore without the help of the people on this site. The wealth of knowledge here is amazing!

While your engine is apart, you should go ahead and install the heavier Barnett clutch springs. Apparently, if your discs are in good shape, the springs will keep it from slipping under BB351 torque.

Also take the time to measure the valve shims for easier future adjustments (locating the correct shims)

I have a header and muffler from a 2004 KLX300 that I'm getting ready to sell. I originally purchased 2 sets of this combination in 2012 - one is sitting on a shelf. Muffler has been cleaned and painted - aluminum exhaust tip included.

Best bang for the buck. I will sell it here for what I paid.

I have my original cylinder in the classifieds here and on eBay If you want to keep your stock cylinder, you could buy mine and send it in for the bore job, or the core. $170 (Bills core charge is $175)
