Hi Fellows.
I see an new web site for the Blue's. I don't see an email address.
I'm Mark M. from 33 King St # 1216 South York, Weston (Toronto) Ontario Canada M9N3R7
And I need a replacement screw for the throttle cable bracket, It's a philips head about 3/8ths of an inch long. Removing the bracket makes carb install a breaze.
Bill and Joanne if you can help (as you know) I'll pay by check. But I need the screw asap.

You should be able to find a suitable screw at your friendly local hardware store. It will be a standard metric screw, if you can't determine the size just eyeball it and buy a few sizes that are close...they're really cheap.

+1 it should be a standard metric screw. I have replaced all of my Phillips head screws with socket head screws (bought at the local hardware store) to make removal easier. This includes the screw that holds the throttle cable to the carb.

I'm familiar w/hex heads. But haven't seen one that is tapered to fit the corresponding taper on the bracket.

 

I know you're asking specifically for Bill's help...but I can't help it, I want to help.

Is it like this one? This particular one happens to be from my TM36-68, and it's a JIS machine screw, M5x12 as close as I can measure with the scale on my leatherman. If you have a TM33, I don't know if the screw is exactly the same. Or are you talking about something totally different?



Now I understand: this one most likely is not at just any local hardware store - I was thinking, like Dan probably was that it was the same kind of generic screw as on the CVK. But if this is the type of screw you're looking for, you could order off of McMaster Carr and probably have it on Monday - not the cheapest way to go, but you can get it in a hurry. This is the catalog print from McMaster for an M5x10 version, including the part number.

Your welcome, and good luck again. That minimum order quantity is a bit crazy in this case...but at least you'll have a lot of chances to recover if you drop it when trying to install.

I just checked this website as a sort of double check: (Mikuni TM Carbs with Accelerator Pump Parts) to see if I could find a definitive size for the screw...not quite, but I did find Mikuni part numbers, and for what it's worth both are shown as unavailable.
TM36-68 part number is C5=0512-B (I'm guessing this is probably 05=M5, and 12=12mm).
TM33 part number is C5=0510 (I'm guessing this is probably 05=M5, and 10=10mm).

Just a note of caution: If you go to the above site (like many other sites) there is occasionally a description that doesn't match the exploded diagram. Not sure what you'd get if you tried to order one of those items.

 

They refuse to send 'em to Canada from the U.S.A. So much for free trade. No answer when I ask what trade restriction prohibits the transaction.

What? That is B-S on their side. They do ship to Canada...I don't see why they wouldn't ship to you. Though it does say on the site: "We can ship our products throughout the world using air and ocean transportation services. We evaluate international orders from all new customers to determine whether we can accept them."
