Default Bike won't start, shop still hasn't fixed it, any ideas.

So I took my bike in because of a worse than normal starting problem and after they cleaned the carb, changed the plug, swapped the gas in the tank for some new gas, and charged the battery tey still haven't got it working as it should. They mentioned that they got it close to starting or started it once or twice and then nothing again. They also mentioned that opening the valves a little would help, but I haven't ever heard anyone in this forum mention this as a possible fix. The only thing I have done to the bike was to change out the blinkers for LED's with the whole diode set up. Other than that nothing has changed on my bike besides some plastic mods. Anyone got some ideas that I can throw at my bike shop? They are thinking Kawasaki will cover the fix under the warranty, but who knows. I guess we'll see what happens.

Spark,Fuel,Air.....they should check this....it's very simple...something is going away and killing it....
If it'll make you feel any better.....
My bike sometimes under hard throttle will cut out and come back on and then it won't do it for about 10 miles.....The dealer says nothing is wrong but it is if the kill switch is being momentarily tapped,,,......hmmmmmI wondr what it is ...It is happening more often when i cancel a turn signal or accelerate hard out of a corner with no turn signal.....My bike has been to the deal 3 times and it has not been corrected so i've taken matters into my own hands......I have tried running a ground strap from differnt area of the bike to other areas of the chassis and it still hasn't fixed it......It's a true ghost problem.very intermittent too.

I'm dealing with a similar issue now. I'm thinking my carb jetting is all screwed up for starting on a mid-40's morning. Take the seat off and pump'er full of starting fluid. You may need to crack the throttle a little (1/4 inch throttle roll) with the choke to get it to light off.

It sure saves time messing with starting fluid and the like if you just remember to turn the petcock off and let the engine run the carb bowl drybefore you shut-down for the day....just sayin

I'm giving that a try too. Problem is, before it got cold and the battery started giving me fits I didn't have to tip it, run it out of gas, etc. When it was a little warmer and it turned over faster, I never questioned reliability. If it warms up to 78 on Sunday, I'm guessing it will start up like it normally does because the starter will be able to turn it over fast enough. It's really lazy right now so, that combined with sketchy carburetation and some questionable tweaking by the mechanic is causing me a lot of grief.

A cold radiator and engine also seems to be a contributing factor. The fact it takes a good 15 minutes of warm up time to restart on it's own doesn't really have anything to do with the gas in the carb bowl does it? After idling for ~3 minutes, I should be able to kill it and restart it shouldn't I? Fact is, that doesn't work right now with just the choke (off or on). I still think my carb jetting is screwed up and it is further complicated by the cold weather addinganother variable to the problem I'm trying to solve.

In for penny, in for pound. If I'm going to mess with the carb jetting and fuel/air screwto get rid of the dead spot above idle, I might as well mount the KLX-300 muffler and head pipe and do the "free" mods at the same time. If I have to haul it off to different dealer to get the carb sorted out, I want to do that ONCE with the free mods and better exhaust.

It has been a bear to start since the beginning but then Ifollowed the deej method and started turning off the fuel and letting the gas run out. That was working great. Then after installing the LED's and having sit for 3 or 4 days then I couldn't start it anymore. The battery was fine and the bike was wanting to turnover but felt like it just couldn't start up. That's when i took it to the dealer.

does it sputter like it wants to? or nothing except just turning over... I flooded my 750 the other day and it wouldnt start, had to take the plugs out and let it all dry out then it fired right up...

o yea and another thing that a motor needs to run is compression.... so...air, spark, fuel, and compression, good luck.

No sputter, and I haven't tried to bump start it, but same results when rolling down a hill and popping the clutch, just a deep umph sound like it's depressed.

Try pulling the fuel line off the "carb end" and clean the filter plug that is in there, it pulls right out,it might be clogged.
