Default Bike ride today- Ft Phantom Hill, TX

So, i am off all of this week and been doing some mods. Today the weather was nice and got out to take a little bike ride. My FZ1 is sitting without exhaust right now (Full Yoshimura will be here tomorrow), so I decide to take my motard and do a little exploring north of Abilene.

I stopped off at Lake Ft Phantom Hill first, and did a little trail riding. Pretty calm by most of your standards, but remember, I was riding my motard with road tires.

Then I continued north to check out the ruins of Ft Phantom Hill which was established in 1851.

Check out the pics.

Here's the funny thing about that lake. It produces some of the finest drinking water in the state. A former state enduro champion, Joe Dixon, used to be the state health and water guy based here in Abilene. He said the reason that Abilene often got the highest water quality rating was because of that dirt suspended in the water...BTW, that water is pretty much that color in drought or flood...LOL! Water purification systems use a process that involves charging particles to attract impurities and such. That much dirt suspended in the water acts like a vacuum cleaner to attract all the contaminants and remove it in the process. Weird but neat deal. Dirt doesn't make bad water...contaminants do. Oh well...that's our science class for the day.

Oh...and your bike looks excellent regardless of the color of the water...LOL!
