Be careful with that extra weight, my buddy broke the subframe on his 06 the other weekend, all he had on it was a tailbag similar to the one North/South has in his picture.

RG - Yes, on Hwy 8 between telegraph hill and So Cal. I am at the first exit West of the hill. Out of our RV park, into the wash North or South.

I got the water tank and the gas tank

Hey SlapDrum, that looks good, I think I have the same rack. Can you post some additional pics of how you mounted the rotopax bracket? Did you get the 1 gallon or 1 gallon cans? Looks good.

Here is what I did to get the Acerbis tank to fit and to get the gas out of the wings. I really wanted the extra capacity and can put up with the unfinished looks. I get better than 300 KM out off a tank. It is a bit of work and the cost ends up being up there but I am pretty happy with it.

I went a similar route, I used a 1.5 gal. Kolpin tank and mount. Just make sure that all the mounting bolts for the rear rack are snug and Loctited. Found that a couple of mine were loose when I was mounting the Kolpin. I suspect that this could be a contributer to rack and subframe breakage that some have experienced.

That Kolpin unit looks and the 1.5 gal is a good balance between the 1 and 2 gals that Rotopax has. I understand the the Kolpin and Rotopax tanks can use the same mount.

Are the Kolpin tanks still available? Their availabliity seemed to have dried up when I was looking in June/July, so I went wityh the Rotopax.

I rode my neice that weighs almost 200lbs. and the subframe held up...but then again, passengers don't sit as far back as that fuel tank.

Does anyone have any suggestions on something I could use to carry gas in a backpack. I'm thinking about only a liter's worth is all I need. I don't ride more than 100 miles and I'm gettin about 80 on a tank. I just need something like a water bottle, or canteen that the gas won't melt the plastic. Any suggestions?
