Default Big Gun quiet core

After the expense of the Big Gun complete exhaust system I was a little peeved to find out that I now need the quiet core insert. Apparently the vortex insert is for M/Xer's so they can slip it in periodically to ride forest service roads and trails, and not for any long term use.
Does anyone know where the best (least expensive) place is to buy the quiet core and repacking?

Matt

I just use the Vortex that came with it and use the spark arester screen that set up works fine I see no need for the quiet core the pipe is not that loud

Hey Bad Bear, you may want to rethink your long term use of the vortex insert, based on these (keep in mind that you would use the Vortex insert OR the Quiet Core insert, but not both):

This is a post from charleshmosesii in another Big Gun Qiuet Core thread:
Based on my conversation with the chief at big gun, here is the definitive answer on quiet core vs. vortex

vortex: made for track mx bikes when they occassionally want to hit national forest roads with friends and need to make the sound legal level. Easy in and out install. Not made to be permanently-installed; won't function longer-term; deteriorates fairly rapidly compared to quiet core (how to tell: will become loud as it becomes non-functional).

quiet core: made for permanent install, will last much longer, but output more restricted than vortex (trade-off there, obviously).

If you guys are looking for permanent install, you want quiet core, and NOT vortex. If you want periodic, temporary use for the few times you venture off an mx track, get vortex and swap it in and out whenever you use it. My guess is that KLX250S owners want quiet core, otherwise they'd have an MX bike instead.
Here's a post from bmwhd later on in that same thread:
I can vouch for the fact that the Vortex is not intended for permanent dual sport use. If left in the bike, it will eventually either deteriorate itself (i.e. melt) or cause the muffler to fail. Don't ask me how I know

Also - RED LOCKTITE is your friend when working on Big Gun exhaust cores and packing.
Regards,

Mike

Hey Francis,

Check out the post I wrote while you wrote this one ... according to bmwhd, you will have problems with long term use of the Vortex insert.

Regards,

Mike

Ok I just read the Please Read Before Use Paper that came with my pipe it says " All Evo Series exh come standard with
Vortex Quiet Core Insert installed!!
USFS Approved Spark Arrester Installed!!
Spark arrester ring ( Found in bad hanging from silencer)

Please remove Vortex quiet core insert $ USFA approved Spark arrester before use for closed course compitition......

No where does it say to not use the vortex very long and I don't have both a quiet core and vortex just the way it came from Big Gun with the Vortex.
I don't see how it can harm anything if your bike is tuned properly and not running lean and creating to much heat.
All the Vortex quiet core is made to do is keep the sound level at USFS legal , 94-96 Decibal state park legal.

It is much less restrictive and better made than the crappy stock pipe so there is no way it should melt from normal use. The heat at the exhuast exit is not in any way hot enough to melt aluminum.
If I have problem I will post the issues I have. In my opinion it is no more than a fancy baffle that is all it really is just a fancy name and a crazy looking thing but still just a baffle
