I have the Acerbis on my '07 and it's great. I had two issues at first but none since. The petcock was gummed up so the seller sent a replacement. The brackets were wrong and the seller would not help because the tank is not listed for our bike. I called Acerbis directly and they sent the correct brackets which still have to be bent but work just fine.

EMS_0525, are you running the TM36-68 carb? Just wondering if it will work with the Clarke tank.

I'm using a TM36-68 with a Clarke tank

I'm only using the pull cable on the TM36-68 so it doesn't interfere with the fuel tank

Rode for years with a pull cable only with no problem and the TM36-68 has a hefty return spring.

Some installation info here Mikuni TM 36-68 Pumper Carb

Hey Doug, thanks for the reply. Do you think the Clarke would interfere with the carbs's return cable if you used it? I was going to go with the natural white so I could see the fuel level but I think it's a little pointless because you would only be seeing the top part of the tank.

If you don't need the range or you don't mind carrying fuel bottles or a flatpack gas can and you like the looks of the shrouds IMS makes a good tank. Which is what I have on my 12 model. I had the same dilemma as you and in the end the stock look just kinda won out. That and the fact that their's not another bike part sitting on a shelf in my garage.
Are you saying that the Acerbis tank with application for the 06-07 models will also fit 09s? It seems like the selection of tanks for the 09 is pretty limited from my searches. Not sure why manufacturers seem to overlook the 09s.

I looked at clearance of the throttle actuator to the Clarke tank and I have ample clearance there with the actuator cut off as indicated on my web site.
If you want the push cable you'd have to experiment with the carb mounted and tank installed.

With just the pull cable everything works just fine
If you insist on the push cable you may run the risk of the throttle binding if the throttle actuator interferes with the tank

That could be a dangerous situation where removing the upper portion of the throttle wheel and push cable eliminates that possibility and it all functions well without the push cable.

I also had a new cable made from Motion Pro (see blueprint on web site mentioned in previous post) as the stock cable was a very tight situation. Again safer to have a little play in the cable to ensure it doesn't bind.

Default 09 gas tank

This is quite an old thread, I see people say that there is a write up somewhere on making the 3.7 tank fit the 09 but for the life of me I cannot find it any help would be great. I contacted Accerbis and they flat out said it does not fit so would love to see a write up if someone made it work.

Look up 'Acerbis 3.7 tank reviews?' By kylrmtncruzr.

The 3.7 does fit but modifications to the two side panels and the choke **** have to be performed first.
