Default Best cdi for bigbore

I know some on here are experimenting with different cdi's. I belive that it is proven that the best cdi for 250cc displacement is the old klx250r. I am wondering what cdi is the best for 300cc or above. Is it the 300r or the 250r. Thanks for the help.

Just a word to the wise. The KLX300 CDI receives 2 phase AC power directly from the KLX 300 stator and is no doubt rectified internally.

OurCDI receives 12-14V DC from the regulator/rectifier...it's an entirely different animal. If you are thinking of going directly to the stator output, I would think long and hard about that. The 300 stator is grounded to the chassis in some sort of Y-configuration and, as such, is well suited to power things directly. The KLX250S stator output goes directly to the regulator/rectifier beforegetting any kind ofground. It was not designedwith the intent of having anything other than thereg/rectifier hooked directly toit. Also, the KLX250S stator has a higher voltage output.

I don't wish to imply that it can't be done, but itseems likeit wouldrequire some drastic and somewhat risky changes just to get the added advance.

So Dean, what happens in the harness connectors that they sell in Japan for this conversion. How do they go from 2 phase to AC? Is this the reason that no one has yet got a 300 cdi working?
