Did you use one of the gaskets that was on the original part?

I don't think I saw a gasket. I'll have to take a look when I get home tonight. If memory serves, I thought that where I mounted the plate it was kind of a thick rubber anyway but I'm not sure now.

Bill and CousinLarrry -

I looked at the original smog plate (the one that I removed) and there is indeed a gasket still attached. I did not use it when I installed the BB blank off plate. I will get that installed and see if it helps the popping.

Bump for this thread...

I installed the gasket on the smog blank off plate today. I "think" it drastically reduced the popping on decel I've been experiencing. It was 70 degees here today so I'm not sure if that had any affect on it. I've been riding the bike in 40 degree weather since I put the BB kit on. I hope my popping on decel woes are over... The bike runs great. My boy and I went riding a bit today and the thing just GOES. With my new Trakmaster II's I can't believe how well it hooks up in the woods. It feels like a tractor. I absolutely love this bike. I think my jetting is really close.
