Im running warp 9 rimlocks wich are pretty heavy in my wheels. The vibration isn't really noticeable until around 60mph and up. Id like to tone it down as much as i can cause its really annoying and feels kind of unsafe at freeway speeds.

I got the stick on wights but they dont adhere properly to my annozided rims. any idea what weight and how many of the the spoke weights I should get? I really dont want to go through the trouble of pulling the rimlocks outta the wheel and weighing them. Thanks guys!

 

I use fishing lead spiraled around the spoke(s). I don't use rimlocks on my bikes that spend time on the road, comfortable with that because I carry an extra tube. 12-15psi I've never had a problem.

dan, those are beautiful.

 

I don't think all rim locks weight the same. Some are rubber, some part steel, some part aluminum. You have a floor jack, just raise it up and spin the wheel about 60mph while you add wts, till it is smooth. Front is a lot more sensitive than the rear, especially if you have not mod'd your fork springs/valving.

I run 2 on opposite sides and still have a lot of wts.

My kids wear the coolest homemade tennis shoes to school too. They seem to get beat up a lot though. I'm not sure why. I also have almost perfected my homemade sauerkraut. There have only been a couple people that tried it that ended up in the immediate care clinic. I can send you some when I get a batch that doesn't eat the lids off of the canning jars.

I balanced by lifting bike and removing caliper then, used large diam. solider to wrap spokes. Started doing this in the 50's. works great to as fast as the bike will go with me on board (about 100 mph indicated) Who knows what that really is.

 

I used the stick on weights. No problem with it adhering.

Less than 5 bucks from harbor freight.

 

thanks for the help guys. I used the spoke weights i think it took 5 oz. No more pogo stick though or fear of death on freeway.

 

I was running DOT knobbies at 14 psi and no rim locks when I had a tire spin on the rim in a hard turn, it cut off the valve stem and deflated mid turn. Bike stepped out and I almost highsided had a major tank slapper nearly cost me a pair of underwear as I almost ****. Rim locks now.
