I go the opposite. I don't usually get too far from something/somewhere. I get rid of as much crap as I can. If I have to hoof it out, so be it. It's good exercise... Bare bones...Old school...KISS... Besides that, it's just cheaper and easier. For me, anyway.

Default Couple of Ideas

I will be making a kit for my bike soon. Here are a couple of ideas for you that I have in my truck kit that I did not see listed. The signal mirror will be in my kit for sure.

Quik Clot stop bleeding gauze

New-Skin Liquid Band-aid

Thermometer

Star flash signal mirror

Coleman head lamp

superglue is great for sealing up a wound and may do double duty for other repairs.

4 months later, the topic I created gets re-posted. I have actually used my surival kit several times since I made it. Once for the emergency blanket and the other times was to make a fire. I found the blanket to be just about useless, but the starters that I made worked awesome in the back woods.

this is a good topic.. Especially since the dual sport nature of our bikes promotes us to go farther with our rides.. Now, to the guys who say "too many survival shows" "old school , KISS" etc.. You may never have needed any of the things, but if you REALLY did need any of them, and didn't have them, it could mean life or death.

Some of us ride hard, pushing ourselves, even when miles away from anywhere. There is great risk of injury when riding in the woods unless you're just putting along, so being a bit prepared is a good thing. I guess, the farther you get from civilization, the easier you should go. And yes you should always ride with a buddy or 2. We all know this. And some of us will never be more than a few miles from civilization, so you can always walk out. (unless you break a leg or 2) Everyone rides in different circumstances, so lets not rain on the survivalists parade here... He may be the one to save your bacon next ride!!!

I agree!

Oh, that's awesome, our American friends and their guns! BTW, not slamming anyone... I'm just pointing out that to some of us in other countries it seems pretty odd to be packing a handgun as part of our riding gear.
