Default Anyone know where to buy single shims?

Hi guys,

As I mentioned in another thread my intake valve clearances are in the lower range on the intake at .11mm.

After ringing my Kawasaki dealer to get some replacements he tells me there are none in the country (Australia) at the size I need in his system and that he will need to order them in which will take a while.

Anyone know a good place to order shims? I don’t really want to wait for the dealer. I can find hot cam kits but don’t really want to purchase a heap of shims that I will probably never use (I need 2 x 2.90mm shims if anyone has got a couple sitting around).

On another note I got the 351cc all finished. Started up straight away and I did a heat cycle. Haven’t ridden it yet because I was going to take the cams back out and do the clearances but now I guess Ill ride it and hopefully in a couple of weeks do the shims again.

Hmmm. If I was looking for shims and was told there were none in that size I would go back and check my shim calculation math.

Excellent idea to recheck the shim calculation, but the "none in the country" comment from the dealer sounds like typical dealer ignorance and,or laziness.
Glad you found the shims anyway.

Lots of places will swap you the size you need for the size you have, especially if you make friends with the techs.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Shim calculation was correct.

The dealer was talking about OEM shims. He did say that if I brought my shims in he may be able to match it with non OEM shims but since I hate dealers (and the price he quoted per shim was a rip-off) I decided to get the ones on eBay.
