Is the 340 kit a kit from Kawasaki? Cost? Think the kit would also work on an '09? No current plans to do it to my '09 but I like to think about this stuff.

The stock exhaust, gears and clutch can handle the extra power?

Also, anyone dyno a KLX with a 340 kit and upgraded carb/exhaust to see what kind of HP can be put to the back wheel by this bike? I imagine fuel consumption goes up a bit...

I am actually (currently) pretty happy with my stock KLX. When I am bombing around the twisty back county roads around here I am often topping 65MPH (while watching for a deer to jump in front of me). But some of the hard core mx racing guys I hang out with would like more power for off-road I think.

When I was looking at bikes again (after 30yr) some guys I know were saying I should consider a 650..but I didn't want a bike as big and "bulky" [heavy] as a KLR or DR. And the reality is my KLX will do 70+MPH and is fine for everything but interstate cruising which is not why I bought it. And my KLX is alot more nimble than a 650. I think some of these same people are impressed with my KLX now that they see what it can do.

Anyway broke 1700 miles a couple days ago

I also LOVE the looks and comments this KLX gets, even from Harley owners. A lot of kids and folks stare and wave at me as I am riding around. Love it. It really looks like a lean mean kick-*** (green) machine
