Default Anyone got a pic of how the throttle cable feeds under the tank

I know, I should have taken pictures first, but too late now. Can anyone provide with a pic of how the throttle cables feed under or around the gas tank. Mine seems way to close to the head cover and I am worried that I am going to melt through it. Thanks again, Daniel.

I think I am going to change my screen name to mechanitard.

Does the Service manual found stickied on here show it? Or, the service microfiches that can be found on places like Bike Bandit? I'm without a camera at the moment....

Can't help you with a picture off of a stock bike, but......

The valve cover doesn't get hot enough to melt plastic and the cable is steel armored (under the plastic sheath ) so no need to worry about the cable.

You still want to route it properly to avoid pinching it with the tank or having it bind at full steering lock.

I dont have a pic, but it kind of comes straight down from the front, then levels off for a couple of inches between the tank and head. Then it abruptly curves down right under the little crossbar, with the pull cable housing actually touching the crossbar.

When I pulled the carb, I was unable to remove the screw holding the throttle cable bracket, so I had to remove the push/pull cables seperately, and pull the carb out with the bracket still attatched. Yes, I reconnected the cables backwards, in spite of having labeled them.

Perfect guys. That info works for me and is as good as a pic. The service manual doesn't show it so it was kind of just trying to make it fit. It's back together but I had to put a lot of weight down on it to get it lined up with the fastening holes on the frame. I was worried because the cable was touching the top of the head cover, but it doesn't sound like that is a problem. Thanks again.

I went out and snapped a shot, a little late but better late than never. The valve cover does not appear to get all that hot as to melt the cables, so I would not worry. My coolant reservoir line was actually resting on the valve cover and that didn't melt and that line is rubber, so i would not worry about the cables melting.

Thanks Anthony, that's aboutt he way I got mine sitting now. It sure was a SOB to get that tank back on there. Actually broke a bolt off in the frame trying to remove the shroud mount, doh! Got the sucker out and all back together. I have to say that blowing a head gasket did wonders for my mechanical prowess, although my wallet is still rather thin.
