I bought a gallon jug of Kawi 10-40 and 2 oil filters when I picked up the bike, no way I'm measuring it. Dealer told me not to run synthetic, which I find odd.

Really who measures the oil that's put into the bike? That's the whole point of the sight glass.
+1 I'm as obssessive compulsive as the next engineer and I dont even measure the oil.

But I just might next time. lol

Better safe than sorry deej. Just looking out for what is best, wish I was more knowledgeable about the 4 strokes, did not race many on them in the 70's!

Am I crazy or does the manual say to change the oil every 7500 miles on my 09? That sounds impossibly long. How often are you guys going between changes?

Yes the manual has stupid-long intervals. I change mine every 1000-1500 miles depending on how it is shifting.

I think ya'll are makin the oil changing harder than it really needs to be. I don't change mine based on miles but rather hrs....20 hrs that is. 1st 20 hr change, leave the filter, second 20 hr change, change filter too. I may go more hours but that depends on my mood.

Measure oil ya put in?

I just guesstimate and use my syringe with tubing to suck out the extra I always end up puttin in. I think ya'll are just makin this harder than it really needs to be.

The oil filter spring is a pain in the sack, leaned the bike almost on it's side and help it up with my legs to get it to stay in. First change was at 292 miles, Kawasaki 10w-40 and filter.
