Deej u got a walmart there in town? Shoulda gotten the ch6015 fram to get ya going it has the o-ring cause I just changed my oil yesterday.
LOL Walmart? Dude we live in a town of 3,000 an hour away from any franchise. LOL But next time I get into the big city I'll look it up. And to keep the spring in there all you do is add a dab of grease on the spring and it sticks right in the spot.

I was going to try and tweak the spring yesterday, but I didn't want to add to me already sucky day.....oh wait that would have been before the oil leak. I'm really not sure how to do the spring thing. The grease works for me, in fact when I took out the old filter the grease from last time was still there.

Yeah Deej use the fram, I was surprised I walked into the local parts place (auto) and they had our filter on the shelf, and don't beat the dead horse when it's down. Even with rubber.

Like deej the kawasaki dealer here told me the grease trick and said that they do it with all the kxs and klxs and as long as u dont put too much its fine. I wouldnt bend the spring by any means. That can cause the filter not to move as it is supposed to when the pressure builds the filter is supposed to move out of the way so that the oil wont build up alot of pressure and wont blow oil lines......

The spring is not a bypass valve. Its just there to press the filter against the oil cover to form a good seal. As for oil pressure, the KLX doesn't make much. Oil pressure is 11 to 21 PSI and the relief valve opens at 63 to 85 PSI.
