Default AHL 300cc installed

I finished up the AHL kit install yesterday with the installation of some Xitomer radiator guards from Amazon.

The bike starts and idles beautifully, so the initial break-in run will be this afternoon.

I kept the 250 cylinder and piston safely stored in case things go awry and I need to swap it back in.

This was a new experience as I have never been this far into an engine (unless you count the lawnmower I "fixed" in 1973--and I don't). Lots of challenges to figure out and overcome. Fortunately, most motorcycle forums have a bunch of people willing to offer advice and encouragement.

I'll post a follow up when I get the ride completed.

I spent about 25 minutes just wandering around connected subdivisions running the revs up and down fairly gently. The bike pulls well and feels strong--how much stronger is hard to tell since I last rode the 250 version in late November.

No weird smells or unexpected smoke, so I guess time will tell whether it is all good or there is a hidden problem.

I'd say give the AHL kit a try if you have any mechanical ability. I have none and I seemed to have pulled it off.

Good deal. Not heard much of anyone having any problem with the kit other than the lower tensioner spring bolt needing minor grinding to allow the bolt to totally thread in

Newer kits are plug and play. Recently installed kit. Was prepared for tensioner modification. But everything was bolt on!

I had forgotten about the tensioner issue and ruined one trying to install it. Got a new one and cut it down so it fit. Good thing I ordered when I did as the spring is now on back order. Partzilla says 200 to 210 days for delivery.
