Get a klx/drz 400, sick bike, fast and reliable. Cheaper than a ktm, easy maintenance... definitely taller, but you can use lowering links to bring it down I think. I have both and like the 250s better in the woods, but the 400 is FAST anywhere.

And the 400 is only like 40lbs heavier than the 250

i traded motos and tried a drz440 (big bore)...the power is definitely there, but i prefer the klx250 handling....i wasn't fond of the close 5 speed...rpm were at near redline cruising 80+ mph....i'm sure i can do some sprocket changes to get the rpm down, but the 5 speed felt very limiting...i really wish the big japanese company would update and make a 6 speed modern 400cc enduro....

I'm looking at the Enduro 690 more for commuter/long distance trips. 4-5 plus hours hwy at 80mph. The KLX will still be my beater surface street\relentless trail bike. The KLX just cant hang on Houston freeways. Just not enough power to get out of an emergency situation at 70-80mph. Plus running it at 7800 to 8800 rpm for long continuous times cant be to good for it.

A HUGE +1 on this. Why didn't they slap that extra gear on there?!

Been eyeing one of these myself a bit, sucks thats they don't make the sumo with the LC4 engine anymore, getting tired of converting dirt bikes already.

Hmm... not listed on the website. I don't even know where the nearest KTM dealer is around here.

Probably gonna have to put off any new motorcycles for a while anyway, i need to buy a tractor and those things are expensive.
