Advice on 2001 Super Sherpa
I am new to the bike world and looking for mods (inexpensive preferably) for a 2001 Super Sherpa.
Granted this is a KLX forum but, you cats seem to be well versed in Kawi dual sports so any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jerry

There's a Yahoo site for the Sherpa,
and a real friendly guy named Dr. J suggests
a basic re-jet:
From 17.5 to a 20 pilot
and
Main Jet 127.5 to a 130.
He also suggests drilling/yanking the idle screw plug, and adjusting it:
FROM stock 2 turns out TO 2 3/4.
This all is supposed to tame the cold-bloodedness of the Sherpie.
There's no mention of the needle in all of this,
and I do recall (from my DRZ days) you saying
that the different
needle that comes with the \r\n- Free Shipping ($149 or more)\r\n- Supports the ThumperTalk Community", "style=\"background: #FFFFCC;padding: 2px;font-size: 10px;\", "ThumperTalk store sells Dynojet", "style=\"border-top: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;background: #CCCCCC;padding: 1px;font-size: 10px;font-weight: bold;color: #000000;\");' onmouseout=GAL_hidepopup(); href="http://shop.thumpertalk.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=848&Click=19912&#Dyn ojet" target=_blank>Dynojet kit is key.

Hi Jojo,
As you are probably discovering there is little after market support for the Sherpa. I have found hand guards and a tail rack but as far as engine mods are concerned, exhaust and breathers, piston mods and such are only available in Japan. They can be ordered here but after shipping and the exchange rate they can get very expensive. Rejetting is prolly the easiest way to get a little more kick outa the engine, but other mods like opening the airbox or removing the exhaust baffle usually result in poor performance, Surging and such. Good luck with your new bike and like EMS says, check out the Sherpa groups over at Yahoo Groups, lot's of good info there.
