Check the justgastanks.com site. This is right from it:

"Can fit 2009 Models but some harnesses will need to be relocated along with the petcock hitting the choke.
You can see a write up here:
KLX-250s Acerbis Tank - gsnorcal's Photos "

And there are many other 2009 write-ups here on this forum and some of the others.

Oh cripes, this is the pre-2009 tank that doesn't fit right on 2009s. The ones I've seen installed did not fit the seat so you had a big gap there that maybe you are willing to tolerate for the increased capacity.

So this isn't the new 2009+ tank that many of us have been waiting for.

I don't think there is a 2009 specific tank from Acerbis. IMS is the one that has promised one for some time now. That said, I've seen pics of redpillar's setup, and I don't recall some big gap at the seat in his pics. Maybe he can clarify this. Also, the choke **** and petcock issue occurs on the '06/'07 models too, but it is easily addressed by modding the choke **** a tiny bit. If I understand correctly, the Acerbis tank is really just a KLX300 tank model that happens to fit the S model. I've lived with my Acerbis tank for some time now, and I wouldn't have anything else. If you really go places where you need fuel capacity, this is it.

Yeah, the tank will bolt up but doesn't "fit" nicely like a stock tank. There are gaps, it just doesn't look right. Hard to argue with the extra fuel, that's a great benefit.

I'm in for my turn at a step-by-step. So many others preceding me with theirs are very appreciated. I often reference one of Dirtsurfer's from 2006 or '07. How do we get the best of these into a sticky (e.g., FAQ)? There's been a number of good ones over the past few months that shouldn't be just allowed to age into oblivion. Oil filters, gold valve install, chain sliders...

Deej - how do we sticky some of the better threads?

As for tank install, that's going to be a couple weeks or so. Riding tomorrow. But would like to have this on before Moab. Tank and locking cap with their packaging as shown in photo weigh in at 6.25 lbs. I'll weigh the stock later, unless someone already has it...

Cheers!

The 09 seat has a different profile than the 07 so there is a gap that is unnoticeable to those that seek function over form.

If my memory serves ,,,,, the stock tank was right at 5lbs. My new Clarke 2.7 gal tank was 4lb I think....
