Default Acerbis tank owners...

Can you check something for me?
Is there a gasket or o-ring or anything between the plastic cap and the threads on the tank?

I left the gas station after filling up (it's wasn't excessively full), and there was gas leaking all over the tank from under the cap. The cap isn't cross threaded, and it's tight. I don't recall ever having a gasket in there.

But suddenly after I leave the gas station and now the thing is pissing gas...

Any ideas? The mating surfaces (both hard plastic) appear to be smooth, not gouged or anything. Could I have dropped something out of the cap at the gas station?

Yep, there should be a big rubber gasket in the cap.
