Default Acerbis Tank & Enrichener

When I first put my Acerbis tank on my 2006 I faced the petcock handle to the rear because there was a bit more space there. Removing some material on the **** allowed me to (barely) engage the enrichener past the fuel line.

When my back-ordered fuel pump arrived, I mounted it on the original petcock bracket which made it impossible to reach the petcock handle. In order to use the petcock on the Acerbis tank, I had to turn it around so that the handle faced forward. There wasn't enough room then to operate the enrichener.

I solved that by extending the enrichener shaft with a piece of speedometer cable. It flexes enough to bypass the petcock and is stiff enough to pull and push the enrichener.

I drilled a 1/8" hole in the end of the shortened shaft for the speedo cable and secured it with JB Weld. Now the **** on the end of the cable comes out to about the center of the frame member. It's easy to access with gloves on.

wow good idea. the choke problem (thank god) isnt that big of a deal if you live in warm weather areas, but where theres snow it must be a pain.

I am putting my Acerbis tank on my 2006 I faced the petcock handle to the rear because there was a bit more space there. Is this the correct way? As it seems I will not be able to put the bike on reserve.

klasjm,
Mine is the same direction on an '06 and there is no interference positioning the petcock to reserve with either the stock carb or the TM36-68.

Same here with the stock carb and now with the TM36-68. I think everyone has to face it to the rear.
