#40 pilot jet necessary?

Hello Guys,
I am in the process of collecting the parts to do the basic mods and want to know if the #40 pilot jet is really necessary.What does it do i.e idle, bottom, mid etc The collar (92143-1667) and the snorkle (14073-1577) have been on B/O with my dealer for weeks and the don't have a clue when they will get them. Does anybody know where they are in stock?

I will start digging a little deeper for the parts when i get the info and make the decision on the #40 pilot jet.

i don't think it's absolutely necessary. people on here have re-jetted without using it. it just cures more of the deceleration popping and off idle and low rpm. basically if i'm not mistaken, the main parts needed are the change in main jet whether it be a 125 or 128, and the adjustable needle on the 3rd notch if you have a full exhaust system, then remove the snorkel from the airbox lid. don't forget to drill out the slide 7/64th's and remove the epa cover on the air/fuel mixture screw and seat it and then turn it out 2.5 turns. if you can do this you should be good to go. now if i can just listen to what i preach and not be so **** about everything.

sorry about my typing but i'm just lazy and hate to reach for the shift key or make complete sentences or eliminate run-on sentences. i think that was one. hehe
