Default 351 kit without the carb.

So who has the 351 with out the carb mod? Does the kit work just fine without the pumper carb? I'm going to get the kit for my SF but can't swing the carb right now.

also are you running snorkle, no snorkle no lid? I have the lid removed on my SF due to only riding street with no water crossing.

Yes the 351 works fine with the stock carb. I had that setup. I have the KDX snorkel because I don't like the noise. Torque is the word!

I went from weed whacker to thumper when I put the big bore kit in.

+1 stock carb here, no plans on a pumper. With propper jetting the stock carb is plenty big enough. They sell much larger jets for my CVK than the one that are in it now. From all I have read the only advantage the pumper has is quicker response.

I have about 75 miles on the pumper. I put 400 miles on the stock carb with the 351. The pumper is different. Response is "crisp" to say the least and its anywhere you turn the throttle. I would not put one of those quick turn throttles on with this carb.

I DID get rid of a 6500 rpm flat spot or misfire or bucking or what ever you called it.

Since the pumper I keep looking for 7th gear.

You are going to love the 350!

I ended up with a 132 main in the stock carb and it was just right.

My stock cvk on a 351 jetting and settings are noted (for your convenience ) in my signature. I bought separate components vs the Dynojet kit. Very happy with my results, you can buy jets for a few dollars a piece at jetsrus.com and your local kawi shop will be able to order the N1tc needle and clip. Quite a bit cheaper than Dynojet.

I idled it first till it was warm, shut it off. Checked the oil and antifreeze, drove it to town being nice. After 70 miles I changed the oil and started to find out what was really there. Its now 500 miles and It seems to run better and better. Some times I think its still breaking in. Since about 100 miles on the motor I figured it was broken in. Steel liner breaks in pretty quick. Top ring is chrome, center one is cast. The liner was honed just like the picture in the textbook.
