Default 2nd Renazco

Not to clutter up Tremor's thread any more, I thought I'd post these here. My 2nd Renazco came today. Went with the all black suede and stitching for the "stealth" look this time. Took a short ride - feels great, maybe even better than the first one. Needed the second one to fit my stock tank, the first one fits the larger XC tank. I didn't think I'd ever be putting the stock tank back on, but as it turns out I like the more slender feel of the bike with the stock tank on. So now I can swap tanks depending on what the ride warrants and not have to give up any comfort.

Just showing some more options available from Renazco. They'll customize all you want. Some folks even have a little pocket sewn in for holding documents like vehicle registration.

Looks Great Brian I would get me one but I just don't ride my KLX enough to spend that much on the seat maybe later on I might never know

Looks Sweet.....Couple questions for ya NB.

I'm considering a Renazco for my adv.....itneeds toa new cover anyway, I do long stretches on the bike to warrant a comfy seat(and I am planning a really Loooong one ) and the stock seat makes the klx seat feel like a Barko Lounger.

How does the suede hold up against water and cleaning after a muddy ride.....I've had GF's that had suede jackets and water was a big no..no?

How long does it take to get one made?

Will they reshape the seat to my specs....I'd like the driver portion of the seat to be a little lower (current 37"+ seat height is a bit much for me off-road at times with a 30" inseam ) and the passenger portion to be the same or raised a little, like a small step?

How much do ya think for a little custom shaping and suede?

Thanks

So far the suede on my first seat has held up very well. They put a layer of waterproofing next to the suede so water doesn't penetrate deep down. They also recommend Pecard Nubuck and Suede waterproofing treatment. Kind'a like scotch guard. Chris sent a bottle of this stuff with my new seat and I've treated it already.

http://www.pecard.com/store.php?crn=...on=show_detail

But I never treated my first seat and it still looks good. I just hose it off and haven't done anything special with it. But I don't consider looks to be all that important, though these seats really do look great. I had always figured they would wear and the looks would go down hill over time. But my first seat is holding up far better than my expectations. Still looks almost new in fact. And ... the last time I washed my bike I used a pressure washer and directly sprayed the seat to get the mud off from our last mud ride. I don't expect it to last that way forever, but so far it still looks great.

Build time is actually very quick, but you have to reserve your spot well in advance, usually several months. They do this because they have a long queue of work to do and they rebuild on your stock seat pan, so instead of you being without your seat for a long time, you reserve a "build week". You need to have your seat there a few days before. They build it, then ship it back. That whole process is maybe a few weeks. For example, I ordered my seat in November, my build week was for Jan 28 and I got my seat today after it shipped last week. If you use your bike everyday and can't with being without a seat, I'd recommend getting an el-cheapo seat from e-bay or something to use while your good one is being rebuilt.

I think they'll do what they can for you in the area of reshaping. Best thing to do is to talk to James or Chris. If you fill out the order form on their web site, they want to know your inseam length and weight. You can get the seat lowered, or raised. But they can only do so much. For example, if you lower too much, you'll be right on the seat pan and they'll probably advise against that. But most seat pans you'll be able to take at least an inch out of the stock height, sometimes more. They'll know how much any particular seat can be lowered though without getting too low. They do widen the seat in certain areas, so I'm sure they can work with you on a custom width if you want more or less.

I don't think they'll charge any more than the standard price regardless of custom shaping. Their price includes a custom fit. The full suede is $400 + shipping. Other coverings are a little cheaper. And you can get a mix - suede top, vinyl sides. Leather is also available. Any combination and colors of the material or stitching. Since each seat is custom made to order, you can really ask for just about anything and if it is possible they can probably do it. They know what works the best, though, so the best thing to do is ring James or Chris up and talk about it. I've not spoken with Chris directly, but I spent a good bit of time on the phone with James. In fact, when I called James up to possibly put a hold on my KLX seat because I might be buying a different bike, we starting talking and found out he rode a KTM 525EXC (soon replaced with a Husaberg 650) and his buddy rides 450EXC so he gave me all the scoop on the differences between those two bikes. That chat was great in helping me decide which bike to get.

Thanks Brian, that time frame is better than I thought. I'm still buying mod parts for my adv slowly....they're going in the ktm cabinet, exhaust, pumper, big bore (690 ), high flow head, nav, hid, switch mods, suspension, new plastic and paint and now a seat. ...... That ought to do it.

She should be ready for the make over by dolphin season or early June.....I'll reserve a spot for late May.....Thanks.
