cpr1...the length is teh only difference?...So i could order a set of klx300r springs and they would fit into my klx250?....hmmm that's almost too easy. That way I can just swap the springs in my garage..without having to haul the bike to the city to pay someone else to do it for me...saves me bucks.

Yes, that's the only difference. And yes, you'll save yourself a good amount of $$$.

Just be careful - if you have a 09 model the fork springs are far shorter than the prior models, 300r and kx springs.

Yes, you're right about that. The 09 KLX does have shorter fork springs. I'm still waiting for Race Tech to release the new part numbers for those springs.

COOOL...I have a 2006 KLX250...so i am guessing the fork springs for the same year klx300r will work fine. If they are 5mm longer, than that shouldn't matter...5mm doesn't sound like it would make any difference to me. I think i will order some..but maybe I'll touch base with thrillbilly to be sure I don't overlook anything else. Thanks guys.

most springs should have 5-10 mm or preload anyhow.

kx forks on a klx is a huge waste of money like someone just stated. but whatever trips your trigger I guess.
the '09 has a spacer in the fork that upon removal, yields the same exact travel as the '06/'07 however, the internals were improved which make the '09 less susceptible to bottoming. I've owned both years and I can vouch for this. Once this spacer is removed, maybe the alleged "longer" springs of the prior year bikes could be used.
