Default 2012 KLX 250s issues

Hey all..

I'm new to this forum and have a question about my 2012 KLX 250s.
At high rpms (6k+) for long durations such as cursing down main roads headed to trails. After a few minutes it develops a skip if I don't change the throttle input. It's like it dies for half a second then comes back. Then once I get off the gas completely if pops a few times like there is raw fuel in the exhaust.
I just recently bought the bike and while i have been riding and wrenching for years. Being a totally new to me platform I am looking g for advice on what to look at.
I did a search and it dis t really bring up any if my symptoms.

What I suspect is incorrect jetting.

About the bike.
2012. 250s.
Motor- stock
Air filter - stock
Carb - stock
Air box lid - Removed did not come with bike.
Exhaust header pipe - stock
Muffler - slip on fart can style

Tuned after exhaust and airbox mod. - unknown

I realize the exhaust is likely the issue but wanted to verify.

Next and only other issue.
Has HID low beam that frequently turns off when stepping on break.

Never worked with HID before and hate hate hate.. wiring.

Thanks.
Scott.

Check your jetting main sure you got a big enough main for lidless. Did they relay the HID? Sounds like a voltage drop

What slipon do you have and what is the elevation you need to be jetted for?

With that info, I can tell you how your bike needs to be jetted for lidless operation..

On the elec problem... If the headlight wattage is too much, when you hit the brake, you have the headlight, tailight, & brake light on. This may cause a voltage dip. One solution is leave the HID if you like it & try changing the taillight/brake light out with LED's. Find out the wattages you have if possible.
If you just got the bike, chances are the fuel is old, get a fresh tank.
If the PO put a on pipe & threw the lid away, and didn't re-jet, that is a problem. The only way to tell is to go in and find out.
