Considering I am thinking of asking $3600 for mine with 7k miles, yes. That sucks.

I just bought a RED '09 with 1,100 miles for $3200.
Nice thing about buying used with low miles is you can get away with paying very little sales tax when you register it.
You can work it out with the seller to claim a lower price paid, and pay sales tax on the lower price.
On paper i paid $XXXX for my bike because it is a used dirt bike.( depreciated value is low on dirt bikes )
The savings is much better than a new bike out the door, paying sales tax on the whole nut.

Region always has a lot to do with it too. Also, some states won't let you buy a used vehicle for a dollar. They have their own minimums they go by. Probably from KBB or something similar. Good news is that I paid 1850 for my 93 KLX650, but in their eyes it was only worth 650...good for me since I only paid taxes on the smaller sum.

If I didn't need the money so bad I would keep the bike, drop the insurance and keep it as a trail bike exclusively. It's soooo light compared to my 650.

As stated " Dirt Bikes depreciate more" that's why KBB was low, and that's why i could do what i did.
Without submitting pictures to DMV to show how nice your DIRT BIKE is, nobody knows.
Anyway, good luck selling!!
