2009 Speedometer display LCD not working

2009 KLX 250S -
Display worked, but after sitting- no longer shows anything at all. Battery is well charged (on Battery Tender) and the backlight works.

I have not yet done the diagnostics from the manual (that is next)- but has anyone successfully repaired them?

It is not even my bike, but a buddies I was doing other work on- I can’t imagine anything I have done that would have affected it.

No advice on troubleshooting, but I have a replacement available if you need it. I parted out an '09 bike a few years ago and this is one of the few items I have left.
