2009 Klx oil leak
There is a set of seals in the R/H side cover behind the water pump. Go to page 4-12 in the service manual-looks like the internal oil seal next to the ball bearing is what's leaking. You have to pull the clutch cover and do some simple hammer/driver work to get the old parts out and the new ones installed.
It's listed in the OEM parts fiche under Engine Parts-engine covers. There's a small bearing(shouldn't need that), an oil seal and what's called a mechanical seal. I suspect the oil seal has hardened and is what's dribbling. I would replace both the oil seal and the coolant(mechanical) seal. You will also need a clutch cover gasket and water pump gasket. Search threads for water pump replacement, you'll probably find a photo guide on how to replace the seals.

why do i need a clutch cover gasket though? water pump is on the right side of the engine.( I also forgot to mention in the title that i have the SF model and not the S don't know if there's any differences)
Thanks for the speedy replies though the info is much appreciated , with a little more reading i think ill be good to go.
Sorry i jumped the gun i see the clutch cover gasket your talking about now , seeing that i need to take the whole right side cover off to change the oil seal rather than just taking the water pump off?
also can i replace the oil seal without taking the bearing out i dont have a bearing puller or anything to press the new mechanical seal in.

You should be able to use a small punch or drift to tap the bearing out of the cover. Use a socket with approx. the same diameter as the mechanical seal as a driver to install the new seal-tap it in place with a hammer. Use the same drift/punch to remove the seals.
Thanks for the info though bud. Might have other questions if i run into any trouble
