I have oil leaking out from what looks to be the water pump, is this common, and will a new water pump fix the problem? BTW, coolant is leaking too.

It is not supposed to leak.... there is an o-ring that seals that thing to the block. Can you tell if it is leaking from the pump itself, or from behind or around the pump? Probably a bad seal. It does need to get fixed, you do not want to unpressurize the cooling system, much less the oil leak...

is the oil leak common to the bad water pump? the coolant is leaking from the bottom water pump bolt. started out as just water then started incorporating oil. Yeah 94 zx6e.

 

Yep.... Oil is slinging around behind that water pump. If the O-ring goes out, it can leak water and oil.....

I would tear it apart first, before I went and bought a new water pump. Could just be the seal....
