Isthe '09 Kawasaki suggested break in method the same as prior years (don't go above 4000 rpm's for the first 400 miles)? If so how is the rider supposed to know what RPM range they're at if there is no RPM guage on the new digital instrument cluster?

There is a cool digital tach that streches accross the entire digital display. At first i didnt like it, but after driving it a bit i like the digital display waaay better. It has 2 trip computers, odometer,the time, speed, digital tach and can swap between mph and kph.

Thanks for all the break in advice, I agree 1600km keeping the rpms down is a joke. Im just going to ride it easy, but not baby and do regular oil changes. I put about 50km on the first day around the city, if the weather is nice Ill put on another100km and change the oil. So far im really digging this ride!

The digital Sisplay is RIGHT ON!> . i dnt even knw where to begin this bike is FUll Of sumthing for me., ,. I dumped the OiL @ 30 k ., and i couldnt find the right Oil filter , Still havnt changed the filter its now @ 180 k and i need a few filters. WHat Filter do i need? Please help./ its a mystery to me

you can somewhat ignore the break-in recommendations for the engine, but the transmission is fragile and cannot be abused at first like the engine. take it somewhat easy or you'll find yourself in the shop with a new bike.

Great point! Plus, the engine and tranny share the same oil which is why I went through the torture of the Kawi recommended Break in procedure. I couldn't stand for all the metal particles in the tranny fromm the Mototune Break in. There was almost no metal in my filter at the first oil change. I put in Amsoil synthetic and everythings cool.

The 09 shares the same oil filter as another KLX (the klx400 (not 100%)?). Go into the shop and ask for the filter, they should be able to look it up. Otherwise if you still cant find it Ill grab the part number off one of my filters.

I just did my oil change. I have the filter Part number here: K 52010-1053. It is the same oilfilter that is in the KX450F. I also use Kawasaki's 10W40 mineral oil.

Awesome Thx., . i went to the shop and got a Filter that is Also used in the Honda 4 wheeleres and also in my friends Predator 500. its fits in therebut i was told that the filters arent the best quality., ,. i dumped the oil 2wice so far andput in the new filter ,. the Odo Reads 190k., ., think that SHould be alright till i find the Exact filter?>< .You da MAn Durden!
