I hear you Neil.[8D]
4 Strokes do need the maintenance in HOURS not KMS.
The bikes I've highlighted are all 2 strokes. Yes they offer really high performance, yet maintenance is a doddle. Really simple.
The prices I've quoted are from the latest issue of Trailzone.
I like it myself.
Its just IMO, they've priced it too high.

The 300 has the electric leg but costs$11,700.
The 200 doesn't have it.
The 250 however has it as an option. 250 costs $10,600.

Got $11,000 to spare. 08 250EXC with electric leg and 21 litre tank. Sorted.

Thanks a heap Gavin.
Your just messed with my head.
I didn't know that the electric leg was an option on the 2fiddy.
Could I live with a 2smoker?
That is one fantastic option.
"she who must be obeyed" will not be happy.
Is that 11k a special offer or something?

whats so special about ktms, and how everyone loves them? I mean they look nice, and do perform, but is there some secret society about them or something? they seem to make the most dual sports.... but really everyone is like obsessed with them, i know 3 guys with 3 ktms.....

The KTM Australia importer is here in Perth.
Just give them the "hard word" and do a deal.
They're saving money not sending any of it over east as it is
Anyway 09 bikes will be here soon. Time to get a good deal.

Oooops! Messed again.

It's not that they're special.
My initial point was the high cost or the WR250R in Australia compared to similar dual sport models.
I understand in the US the WR250R is about $7000 US?
The current exchange rate makes that $7530 AUS.
WTF.
I feel like I'm being ripped off.
For the money, down here, I'll take the KTM.

Ok one thing we don't want the forum to turn into, is that the 09 is better then the 06 or 07 or visa versa. This needs to stop right now. Sharing comparisons between the models is one thing, but lets not get into a pissing match over the bikes we all love, no matter what year it is. I mean some guy could come onhere with an old KLX or KLR and we should respect him the same as the guy that just bought the 09 as his first bike. IG lets back it down a notch, there is more than one way to say something. If you are "tired" of the same questions, then don't answer them. Tact is described sometimes as telling someone where to go and they look forward to the trip. You seem to consistently keep coming off as condescending and that causes a lot of the member (some we have lost) to spend less and less time here. We can't have that. Yes we have a search button, but it doesn't always work like we think it should. And the rest of you monkeys, if you see something that you don't agree with, try to let it go. (dang it when re the 3 other mods going to get their wings?) Now lets get back on the topic at hand and have fun. pleeeeaaaaaaaaaase????[8D]
come on deej, let's not turn into something you were in the past. I'm not on here calling people names like your buddies do me,I'mjust pointing out differences between the new bike and the old one. seems like some members can't remember how crappy they thought the'09 was going to be last fall when the specs came out, and then now they're saying it's the same bike as the old KLX. that's not true and I'm just steppin' up pointing out the differences for us '09 owners as most other '09 owners don't know an '06 from an '09. how is that being condescending? where did I ever say that my '09 was better than an '06 or '07? I think if you read my posts, it's easy to tell I'd rather not have sold my '06 a year ago and wish I had it back.

btw- those KTM's all look the same. why make three bikes that virtually are identical. I don't get it either ems. I'd take the Yami anyday over those KTM's. Nice bikes, but way overpriced imo.
