Default 2 short mud videos

The high today was only supposed to hit 37F, sunny, with 5-10 mph winds, less windy than what it's been. I decided it would be a good day to ride over to the Dayton Dirt Rider's trails to see if anyone else would be out riding. I wore my street helmet to protect my face from the cold wind, but I didn't wear neck protection, and I got rather cold around my neck riding there. My hands got a little cold until I got to the trails, then they were fine. Other people at the trails were complaing about cold hands when trail riding, so either I had warmer gloves, or they were riding much faster than me. Probably the latter.

At the trails, I felt fine, the weather didn't feel as cold to me. And the turnout was much better than I thought it would be. Can't remember how many people, I'll just list the bikes: 3 or 4 KTM 2 strokes, 1 KLX300, 2 KDX200s, 1 Husqvarna 2 stroke, 2 YZ250Fs, 1 CRF150R. It was great to see so many people there in the middle of February, and they were all so friendly. Gives me hope I can get to know some of them better and find some other riding areas.

I bought a little tripod at Radio Shack, it's only a pound, but extends to 43 inches. I hooked my digital camera to it and placed hit close to the mud puddles, hoping I could get videos of me churning out huge impresssive rooster tails. That didn't exactly happen, the roosts weren't that big, and the tripod was too far away. But these are my 2 first attempts at videotaping myself riding. Hopefully my video skills will improve with my riding.

Cool idea to set up the tripod and camera....practice and patience should get the desired effect plus a "little more" mud and water! Just remember, the amount of fun is proportional to the amount of mud and dirt retained by the bike and rider....

A couple of suggestions:
1) the "parting the water" trick as demonstrated by my son. or

2) the "this doesn't look too deep" trick as demonstrated by yours truly

Good quality video, not bad sound either. I know your pain on the tripod thing. I have a few on my photobucket account and the ride seemed much more exciting than it looks on the computer.

I've never gotten much of a roost from the KLX, anything big was pretty well blocked by the license plate.

Ain't that the truth. It never looks as fast on the vid as it did in person. Also, the camera tends to make the rough look smooth and the hills look flat.

I know, I know, but it was cold, and I was wearing my SIDI riding high-top shoes instead of my SIDI Discovery boots. I also had on just Levis instead of my riding pants. I really didn't plan on doing that much off road riding. I just wanted to rack a few miles on the bike before the Daytona 500, ride up to the trails, see if anyone showed up, ride back to my local bar, watch the race, eat firied turkey and pork roast while consuming a few beers while watching the race. But when all those people turned out on the trails, I just had to stay and enjoy the company. I only missed the first 70 laps of the Daytona 500, and I nee eded to drink a Red Bull to stay awake for the rest of it. I like those pics, nice!

I was suprised by the audio, it is just a little Cannon Powershot SD750. The 2 stroke in the opening of the first video came through way louder than I thought it would, and I don't even remember hearing the train at the end of the second one.

Thank you for thanking me, lol. I had good intentions, hopefully I can do better.

That is the truth. I was inspired by some of your videos to get a Vimeo account. I also may very well buy the helmet cam you bought, but I'll wait until after I get my taxes done, I have no idea how bad I'll get hit dealing with the estate and receiving life insurance money. I'll find out soon enough.
