Default Sweet jumps, Mud, & Bigfoot

Had some fun today around Harris Nuclear Plant here in NC. As you can imagine there are quite a few power lines eminating from the plant and there also just happens to be some gas pipelines around here too. The first video is a pretty fun jump I found. Looks like it's been well used by quads as well as other dirt bikes. I have yet to meet anyone back here, though.

...

The second video is a pretty good mud crossing. There are several other of these leading up to this one, but they all have a path around them so you don't have to go through. Not so with this one - the creek is deep on either side and set in a deep channel. I must admit, this was pretty fun. BTW, the Kenda 270 tires performed quite acceptably in this stuff. I got bogged down a couple of times, but I think any tire would have done that. Never did it stop pulling - it plowed right through. Oh, watch out for Bigfoot in this video!

...

Edit: Links no longer work, bummer

Cool vids, nice touch with the editting. The crossing vid looks like it had a serious drop off leading into it, was it as bad as it looked? Must be nice to be able to have your feet touch :-P.

Very nice, loved the ending with Bigfoot. LOL. Who filmed it for you, or did you do it all you're self?

Yeah, Bigfoot wasn't planned but my stride reminded me of those old Bigfoot clips from the 70's. That was me loping back to the tree that I strapped the camera to. So I guess that answers the question about who filmed it Got the cheesy sound effects from Apple's iMovie.

Yeah the drop off surprised me the first time through. Not sure if you can tell from the video but I let the engine die right there the first time through and had to restart. I dubbed over some cheesy iMovie laughter at that point but it's kind of hard to make out.

Usually this section is pretty deep with water. It's pretty low right now. This was my first time through this puddle and I'm glad I didn't try it when the water was higher. Could you tell I was spinning pretty good the second time through from left to right closest to the camera. The worst thing about going through these is that you never know what might be buried down in the mud - old tire, water soaked log, etc. There's lots of potential for a good soaking if an unseen object diverts your wheels off to one side.

Oh, and Deej you asked about whether the Pelican case shifts with my ratchet strap mounting method. While not much vibration here or even with the jump section, there a large part of the ride was over hard dry dirt / clay down those power lines and gas pipeline roads. It stayed solid and didn't move. It also took a pretty good soaking through the muck and water and everything inside stayed good and dry. I really like that case - that was a good find. Thanks for posting your prictures so I could borrow that idea.

Hey how many of you old timers (like me) remember this movie? I was 11 when I saw this and I gotta tell you I have not been the same since. Kind of like Jaws and the fact that I haven't gone in the ocean since. LOL

Don't thank me, we can all thank Todd for that one. Hey Todd how many bikes have you put the Pelican Case on? Thanks again, I love the 1200.

The only way it could have been funnier is if you did the bigfoot scene where he's walking away in the distance and then turns and looks at the camera at the last second. Still pretty good though!!

LMAO..Bigfoot was great, Nobrakes. You've inspired me to learn how to use the video on digital camera. Maybe it was only you in these pics! These were taken by a hiker on Silver Star Mtn..the same place where I posted pics of my ride/hike last week.
