15t sprocket

When installing the 15t on the KLX250 did you have to remove the GUIDE-CHAIN (case saver) little metal piece that goes between the front chain guard and the case?

I have to remove the case saver to install the sprocket, but it goes back on. The fit is tight but no interference with the chain that I can see, or remember others reporting.
