Thumbs up 15K Check In

Hi everyone i see there is some new faces and the same old fun ones are around ;-)
Recap:
I bought the bike brand new as a leftover in april 07. Theres not much left on the bike that is still stock as that will change again in the next couple weeks. I like to say thanks again to the guys at dirt bike telivison for the parts and riding tips, LCP for the carb.

The bike now has over 15k miles on it and its now time for my to switch out front & rear sprockets as i have 12 teeth left on the rear and maybe one or two left on the front. chain is gone also as i have stretched it as far as the snails could go. I have replaced the stock 42t with a 48t and going to leave the front at 14t. now riding in the sand isnt a chore anymore.

Tires:
Kenda Trackmaster 2 k-760 110-100-18 - Good All Terrain Tire Sand/Mud/Road over 2k miles per tire
Michelin Desert 90-90-21 - Currently Running As The Kenda K776F Wore out to fast Not Sure for how many for each tire as i forgot to keep track of that.

80mph rides a little over 9k on the rev limiter and can stay at that speed with high winds on the road. stock gearing the revs in 6th gear where just about equal to the speed */- 100rpm so in breakdown for each 10mph after the sprocket change the rpms are about 1,200 rpm higher then the speed you run at.

Other then that I still havent do any internal motor work to the bike except for oil changes about every 1,200 miles more or less depeing on if i drive road or trail. a good full day in the trail it gets fresh oil. Still never checked the valves. Either the valves are chattering around 5-6k rpm but does not effect the way the bike runs or performs once in awhile the noise goes away.

End Cap:
Damn great running machine very low maint.

Glad to hear your machine is holding-up well. 15,000 Miles on the chain and sprockets?! You're more of a thrill seeker than I am. I ride about 98% on the street and change my chain and sprockets every 10K Miles. I get pretty far from home sometimes though, so that's definitely something I keep tabs on.

My bike has logged 23,000 trouble-free miles so far. My latest valve checkn was about 1,000 miles ago and they're still in spec (since new), but those are all slab miles with only an occasional high RPM thrashing.

With the type of riding you described, I definitley recommend you get your valves checked soon. What's that they say about 'an ounce of prevention?'

Anyway, good hearing from you again. Don't be a stranger.

the valves and fork seals are next on the list of things to work on. since i bought the bike i wanted to push it to full limits of everyworking part for as long as possible to set a benchmark everywhere possible. when the top end starts to go then its onto the big bore and pumper carb
