Hey guys, from my experience I think it will be necessary to change my front sprocket to a 13. I have it but not installed yet. What difference did you see with the front sprocket changed? How does it wheelie? Must be a lot better for trail riding? Reports would be appreciated (before and after).
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hey TheFrog,
had my 14t on for about the first 600kms then switched to a 13t, I love the faster response off the mark, but higher revving at faster speeds, yes I can wheelie with the 13t however I'm not very good at it. the 13t is much better in tighter / hilly dirt areas, but if you are doing most of your riding on road, i'd stick with the 14
Cheers
Chris.

I should rejet and change my sprocket very soon (looking for some time...). Can't wait to try that 13t. Should be a different bike after that. I don't mind for the higher revs, this is not a street bike but a dirt bike
. What I need is a faster throttle response, a bit more torque and power (of what is possible to get from a KLX).

Hey chris, do you need the clutch to wheelie with the 13t?

I had 13/42 gearing until a couple months ago..now have 13/45 and love it even more...like u said it's a dirt bike and the bigger rear only adds about another 500rpm to the top speed, just like the 13 did...climbed my first hill today since I put on the new rear sprocket and the bike climbed up the fairly steep hill in 2nd gear no problem at all...love it!!! Also had the bike wide open down a stretch of road and managed 120Km per hour at about 8000 RPM..not bad for a 250...does just what I want it to.
With the 13 tooth and 21/18 street tires I can pull 85 at WOT in a tuck. I saw a touch over 90 stock but had a tailwind. I love the low end response with the 13 tooth, its damn quick on the street.

big time, and even then it's nearly impossible. it won't give you more power, just better low-end response, that's it. I'm finding the same scenario with my '09 as my '06 had- tire spin. A lot of traction is lost with the stock tires. I see some 606's in the future.
