seems at highway speeds my bike is like 7mph faster then my gps
but at lower speeds really close


is there such a device for cable driven speedos also, like some sort of reducer gear you plug inline with the cable

because other bikes I have are also close to being 5 mph off but they are all cable driven

 

idk for bikes but i have a few on my trucks, and to be honest riding slower isn't going to hurt anything and i don't really look at the speedo much off road so it doesn't do too much good

 

All my riding is on the street
So for me I like having the speedo accurate

 

on my concours taller front tire corrected the speedo, never checked what it did to the odo? oh well.

on the klx at least it's not driven off the engine where changing a sprocket throws it of, like the wrr

 

If you have a newer KLX with the pulse-driven speedo, it's really not possible for it to be off at one end, and not equally off at the other (unless your tire diameter is changing A LOT with speed).

Speaking as a SpeedoDRD owner/user, I love the device! Got my MPH dead on, at all speeds. Odo is still off, but that's nothing that can be corrected simultaneously with an external calibrator. The KLX speedo is set to read higher MPH than actual, from the factory. Fixing that, messes up the Odo. Can't get around that fact. I think my Odo is off about 1% or so, with the MPH dead-on.

I don't know anything about reducer gears for mechanical speedos...

 

It is a percentage that it is off. At 60 MPH it reads 66, that is 10%. So at 20 MPH it is off by 2mph that is why it is closer at lower speeds. Most people with mechanical drives move the needle on the speedo its self.

I agree with rgoers it works great.

 

10% seems about the norm for most bikes I've owned, and is also why it makes the mental math fairly easy. 66=60 55=50 44=40 etc. would be nice to have it accurate though !

 

yes I had a old scooter I was able to adjust the needle and got it dead on with gps

Why with cars they seem to be accurate but bike they are too fast
not sure what the reason for that is

will install this week
from my calculations I may start out at -10%
just need to read up on how to program it, scanning the instructions looks complicated




for those that have one, do I take out the speedo and look for the connector?

or where exactly does it tap into just so I dont have to tear apart too much

 

Do they make something like this for an 07'? I can't believe this is such a major problem kawasaki still has not fixed! I have read a lot of threads and pretty much every one says to buy a digital speedo. I personally prefer the analog gauges.
