So what does the meter say on the dyno? I'm just trying to see what number I am shooting for..

14.7 like what lear mentioned?

Mine is too rich, but evenly so, and because I'm searching for a stock KLX300 exhaust, I'm leaving it this way for now.
My opinion of A/F ratio is the perfect 14.7/1 can only be assured with a FI system. Air density changes with altitude, barometric pressure, even humidity, and temperature also has a great effect. Right now mine is averaging about 12.5/1.
It's returning 60mpg, and pulls cleanly in any riding circumstances I've been in. I'd be happy with 13.5/1, any leaner would bother me, but that's just me / I'm just not comfortable with my engines being too lean.

I think you have the right idea. It's always safer to run a little rich. Whomever stated that 14.7:1 is what you're looking for on a dyno run is a bit misguided, IMO...no matter if you say you've 'worked in a garage before' or not.
The most common type of dyno used is an inertia drum, which doesn't give the bike time to stabilize and any given RPM. Once RPM stablizes while you are riding, the F/A mixure always gets leaner, so setting 14.7:1 on the inertia (most common) dyno -it only allows acceleration- is a big no, no.

Ok, so I'm looking for somewhere between 12.5-13/1

Thanks for the info, now to get to the dyno

The shop we run at has the "ideal" A/F set at 13/1 on their Dynojet dyno. I re-checked the chart from my run, so I'm not very far out, and like I said, I'm standing pat with it for now. A 13.5/1 setting I think would be safe. This particular shop builds a LOT of Hi-Perf ATV engines, for sand drags and the like, so they tune to 13/1 for safety I should think.

Ok, cool, thanks for the info

I have a 15t sprocket on it's way too..

So far this bike is an absolute bear. It just laughs at any hill that I rip up. Love it.
