Actually 13/42 or 14/45 .... which is the same......is better with the bigger bore.

I run 15/50 on my 331, great for offroad work.

That works out to a 14:47.......don't you think first is geared a lil too low???

I liked stock 14:42, the 331 had plenty for that, no problem even in 6th up hill. Also tended to keep the RPMs lower so wasn't so buzzy on the highway.

For me 14:42 never was in that sweet spot....I was shifting between 2nd and 3rd too much in soft sand.....I never use 1st much....perhaps sumthn like 14:40 would work ok.......hmmmmmm ...... but nah...da lil klx needs the gumption of 14:45...... well hmmmm now ya got me thnkin....I never use first, hardly.....it would make my lil bike a real 6 speed....hmmmmm.

Ktm's I've ridden stock had a higher 1st ratio than my second...but not much.

My KTM EXC, even billed as a wide ratio tranny, has a more narrow gearbox than the KLX. I'm running a gear setup on it now that puts its first at about what stock KLX 2nd gear was. I can definitely see you wanting smaller rear sprocket for the sand. I'm going to be riding sand this weekend and am thinking about going 1 tooth higher in the front. But I'll probably just leave it, it's not too bad the way it is, it's a compromise between tight trails I sometimes do and the more open stuff I'll be doing this weekend.

Today did a state forest loop - 60 miles of hell. hahaa.. Breaking in the new motor nicely I've got about 300 miles and two oil changes on it now, and it's running like a dream. The torque is just so nice now. I did a hill climb two days ago with it mid range in 3rd gear and it just screamed the whole way up trucking over everything. It seriously brought a tear to my eye! hahaa

On a technical note - I have some dyno time scheduled soon to make sure the A/F is on (Bake, Bill B, anyone, what A/F am I shooting for?!?!)

The bike is running great, I just want to be 100% sure it's where it should be.

If its A/F ratio, the standard is 14.7 (14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel). As for jet size, no clue.

Hello CousinLarry
Glad you are happy with the 351 kit. I don't know the A/F ratio. When I jet a bike I watch the A/F meter on the dyno & jet the bike as needed.
