09 KLX250s...Love the bike, not the headlight
It's a dumb thing I know, but I don't like the front headlight & wondered if there was something from a different year that would bolt on without too much trouble.
Thanks for your help!

If you want to change it for a better light, I would recommended checking the aim of the light. My 09 KLX250SF came from the dealer with the weather boot hanging from the wire and the light was pointed for the moon. After following the manual on adjustment I have found the headlight to be excellent. A better quality bulb also helps. I'm running a GE bulb.
Cheers.

I'm going to have to check out RedPillar's setup. It's really been a great bike. I live in SoCal & wanted a street legal dirtbike, but didn't want (or couldn't) to spend the dough on a new KTM & the DMV is getting really crazy about re-issuing plates to the used conversions you can buy on CL, so I went with this KLX. I wasn't that impressed by in the beginning, but with all the mods it's a totally different bike. Suspension off to Moto Pro in a week or so!!
The headlight is the only thing that just bugs the crap out of me. I know, I don't see it when I'm riding. I've got my eye on a KLX450 too, but I don't love that headlight either - but at least it's more in line with what the other manu's are doing. The '250's is cartoonishly big. It does work really well at night though, I gotta say. If only it didn't look like it was created by a Japanimation artist.
Will a previous year work on it?

Ha!
I can't wait to get my stuff off to John at Moto Pro. It will much more fun to flog then! I'm giving some thought to the 351 kit too, but will have to find someone to do it. I'm a mechanical guy, but I want to have someone else to blame when/if it blows up after the mod!

I just got a new 2010 KLX250S two days ago... both rides so far have been at night. I've been wrestling with getting the headlight aimed. It was setup waaaaay too high from the factory. I still have to crank it down a little more.
The beam pattern looks really good, but it could use a brighter beam. I'm considering a 55w HID kit. I have them in my DR650 and Z1000 and love them. Well, the DR's is 35W. The DR's stock headlight is a joke, but the brightness is nice. I added a set of Denali LED aux lights to it and those things are amazing. I'm trying to avoid doing that on the KLX since they could get taken out in a crash.
DDMTuning has a nice kit for $47.50, but there's a lot of crap to have to find a place to put, and I read someplace that there isn't much room in and around/behind the headlight assy. I'll have to check it out this weekend and see.
