I did have to do some minor bending to fit the aftermarket bars on my bike, but no problem. You will likely have to take a dremel or a knife to cut out some of the plastic where the master cylinder banjo bolt head needs clearance. I had to do the same with the Acerbis on the 650. They do look right on the bike though.

If you are using aluminum bars you should chamfer or round the inside of the clamps to avoid having them cut into and possibly cause a fracture in the aluminum bars.

Fit everything up loose then tighten when happy with the fit. Take some time to get the fit you want.

They will provide the best hand protection if you ever smack a tree or the like. I've fallen on the side on the 650 still holding the bar, no harm to my hand. Even bent one of the Acerbis slightly in one fall. I know they've saved levers, grips and possibly switch gear.

I think I found the same china ebay ones in red for $27, but I made best offer for $23. I've spent hours looking for closed handguars with aluminum inserts with black or red shields for under twenty and can't find them.
Guess I'll have to increase the budget.
It seems like most kits come with inserts and you have to cut the end of the bars off.
I'd rather drill and tap the end of my bars so I can replace the shields and inserts since they are one piece on the $30 kits.
I can make the new hand guards fit most any size bolt at the end with bushings or drilling, but my question is
Is there a standard bolt size for hand guards where they screw into the sides of the bars?

(In case I change brands later)
This will also be a good excuse to buy a tap and die set from harbor freight :-)

I doubt there is any standard size. Check the bolt thread OD/pitch to get the right tap. Those are likely metric, I forget how big, but why guess. Get 'em and check to do it right.

Or, in an afterthought, you may want to get a different set of socket head countersunk screws, the ones in the kit are really long and you won't need that length. Replace them with something shorter. Check an industrial hardware store, a good hardware store, maybe an Ace Hardware. Might cost you a buck for them... or cut the ones in the kit.

Just bought these off eBay. HONDA
Let me know if that link worked or not.
$32 gives me enough left over to buy a full tap and die set from harbor freight. I just hope the red isn't way off and that I can make them fit. I'll post my results after I install them. Thanks again for the advice, feel free to give me more tips. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get them in the mail.
