Default '07 Fork Guards?

So, the OEM white ones have gotten quite brittle and didn't take much abuse before falling into many little pieces. Looking on BikeBandit, it appears that my only option is another OEM set, at $30 a SIDE. I've looked around the net to see if anyone makes one, but it doesn't appear that is the case. I've read on here about the possibility of other models/model year fork sliders fitting, but there seems to be some disagreement about what I need to buy and/or modify. Anyone?

The OEM units are junk, and they're horribly overpriced. You need a set of UFO guards that are for a KX...can't remember which model. Maybe you can see the part # in my pic here. You have to drill a hole for one of the mounting bolts, but that's extremely easy since they're plastic. dan888 has a good tutorial floating around here somewhere. They're basically a straight bolt-on deal for the most part. They're made out of what appears to be fender grade plastic, so they're nearly indestructible...and relatively cheap.

I just installed a pair of black 1995 KX250 fork guards on my 06 KLX250S with minimal modification required.

They hold up waaaaaayyyy better than the stockers. I actually have replaced, my replacement guards, but only because they were pretty scuffed up. When they are only ~$20 you can do that.

I'm not surprised you had to replace yours, dan. You're like Mr Magoo...stumbling around...running into things...breaking stuff.

Looking at the Parts Unlimited online catalog, the '94-'95 KX250 only comes in white. The '96-'03 comes in white and black. Is this what you have EMS?
(I'd much rather see black on my bike)

UFO online catalog agrees with the above statement
