You might ask around the shop about one of the mechanics that does side work. He might be willing to help you do the work or let you watch and learn how for the next time.

I got home at 5 p.m tonight from work ...found out my header and dynojet kit were in...raced to the bike shop and back. A little after 6 I started tearing the bike down. I pulled all the plastic and the seat and tank. then the carb. installed the jet kit (I went with the klx 300 stage 2 kit) , put the carb back on, ripped off the factory system and installed my new power bomb header and fmf slip on and put it all back together. I started it up at almost eight o'clock. It was smoking a bit...then I remembered I did not swap out my filter, though I had removed the lid. took it apart enough to swap filters, and *poof*...like magic, everything ran fine! Although I am pretty mechanical, I have never attempted a jet kit in my life....was always too scared to try. It was really easy ! I just followed the instructions...new needle with the clip on the third hole with two spacers on top of the clip. I went with the 128 main jet as per instructions (with full aftermarket pipe and no cover on airbox). I also drilled out the plug for the fuel screw and swapped it out for a kouba screw set to 2-1/2 turns out. The bike does have a noticeable increase of power over stock, but I will be ordering the bill blue 351 kit fairly quickly. sorry so long winded, but just figured maybe a few would like to know that if I, a construction foreman who happens to be mechanically inclined can do all this in a couple of hours....a decent bike mechanic should be able to do it in less.....agreed? have fun and good luck with your jet kit!
