0 Miles Won't Start???
I just brought home a brand new 2009 KLX250S and it won't start.
I rolled it off the back of the truck and put it in the garage. The fuel is on the shut off switch is in the right position. What else should I do?
The tech where I bought it started it once and it took a couple of minutes. Figured it just sat for a while but now it won't start at all.
Could it be bad gas? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
bootmud

Ok, if it's anything like my bike, when she's cold she needs the choke ON and DON'T TOUCH the throttle when you hit the electric starter. Crank the engine over a few seconds, and if it doesn't start, wait about 10 seconds then try again.
I found that with the choke out, if I give any throttle at all she won't start. When she does start, the idle will be very slow and gradually build up to about 4000rpm in under a minute. Give it a minute or so idling at 4000rpm before you push the choke in, and as you push it in give a little throttle to prevent stalling.
Once she's warm, if you stall it (or intentionally kill the engine), I found I need to give a little throttle when restarting otherwise she just stalls again.
Hope that helps.

Yea, I've been trying with and without the choke.
I just called back and talked to the sales guy and he said to spray a little
WD40 on the air filter. That didn't work either.

There is a small hex screw on the bottom of the carb right beside a small black hose. I loosened that screw and gas drained from the hose. Does that only drain what's in the carb or will it continue to draw from the tank?
Thinking maybe I'm draining a flooded carb????
I let about a dixi cup of gas drain and then I tightened it back up. Bike still wouldn't start.
Anybody else?
Thanks, bootmud
