Default AIRBOX COVER

just wondering if its a bad thing to take off ur airbox cover to allow more air in. would this affect the air fuel ratio? make it go lean/rich? i figured it would be louder hearin the intake but yeah... im not worried about water commin in or anything like that. just the overall performance. pros? cons? just curious i guess

welcome to the forums!! Not real sure on yours, on my old 400, drilled 6 holes in airbox lid, and put in K&N filter...had to change needle in carb...was running lean...Don't drive thru a lot of wet stuff myself, but have had no probs at sand hills here..Biggest performance product I found was changed front sprocket down 2 teeth..only does about 58 mph on top end now, but can power wheelie into 3rd..

Most track racers and duners do take the airbox lid off, and it does improve intake flow. As long as you don't ride in deep wet mud or water, you should be okay. Just to be safe though, install an outerwears on your filter.

It will also make you lean, you will have to fatten up your jetting. This really makes a difference if you are running a full pipe.
