I purchased a 900 Sts ski and had it checked by my mechanic who had told me everything was fine. When I finally took it out it ran great except it won't go above 34 MPH. The ski feels fine likes it not knocking or smoking or feeling like its going to stall. I took for a 2 hr ride with no problems at all, except it maxes out at 34MPH. My 96 STX had a screw by the throttle that you could for newer riders so they couldn't go as fast. Is there anything like that on this ski that might be causing it to be in a learning mode?

the impeller is bad!thats all!! mine done the same thing when i got it!.i put a new one on mine and it runs around 56 with me on it and about 63 with my wife on it .look up in the back of it and see how much space is between the blades and housing ,look at the pic
