hi all i,m new to the group and pretty new to bikes,i just bought a 1990 zzr 400,the bike starts well on the button with choke and will tick over on choke but as soon as i touch the throttle it just dies?? the bike is in good condition and has done 29,000km,i,m suspecting it has to be a carb problem but i really dont know so any help or advice would be very gratefully recieved thx darran

 

I would agree with you on the fuel system. Flush, clean and resync is what I would try first.

 

thx for the reply i,m gonna have a look at doing just that, its not proving easy to find a workshop manual for my model tho maybe its because its an import to the uk i dont know,so if anyone knows of a good site or a downloadable manual i,d be grateful,i,m not very mechanically minded i cant even find the petrol tap so i,m beggining to wonder if there is one lol thx again for yr advice cheers darran

Noway an inline 4 has one carb. 53hp at 11,000, 27 ft lbs at 9,000 and with 4 valves per cylinder.
