hi i just bought a 2005 ZZR 600 off a friend of mine he sold it to me cheap becuase the bike had a problem with its alturnator because he would charge the battery and then when the battery dies the bike dies so i still dont know if it is the alturnator or just something else causei took the cover off today and it look fine. so does anybody have an input about this and is there anyone selling the part i need to fix this i i greatly apreciate the help thanks guys.

 

I don't know, although I have the same bike I have not had the same problem. I had a problem of the bike cutting out but it was just the cables were loose.

 

Put your meter on the battery. Record the voltage. Then record the voltage when the ride is started and running at say 2000 rpm. Does the voltage increase any?

 

well the battery is just there to start the bike right? so when the bike runs it just powers of the alturnator like a car

Yes, if the frame ground is good. I have not done that though. I am lazy, I use a meter. lol

edit: 4000 rpm is needed for testing my alternator output voltage. ('06 10r)

 

Ok so where is the frame ground located ill clean it or what ever and do you know where i can fine like a free online service mannual thanks you have been great help

If your alternator is bad, your bike won't continue to keep going. I had an old GXXR and when the alternator went, so, too, did the bike; stopped dead in its tracks.
Drag has good advice. Check the volatge with a meter. You might also just get a battery to eliminate the variable; not a bad thing to do if you just bought the bike, so you know it's fresh. Then, if you still have the problem, (and the lights get dim, dimmer, dead) you know its the alternator.
